YLR Runs New Personal Best at Pacific Raceways
Yvonne ran a new personal best at Pacific Raceways last weekend during the final WCSA race of the season. She clicked off a 6.05 second pass Friday evening, then ran a 6.08 during the heat of the day on Saturday. We now have a very repeatablle chassis setup and tuneup moving forward. Our last race of the season will at the Street Car Super Nationals in Las Vegas held in November.

Thank You Wallace Racing Products!
A big thank you to Wallace Racing Products for supplying us with one of their awesome engine parts organizer trays. These are the nicest on the market and the only one I've found that is designed large engough to hold the parts for big cubic inch nitrous engines. We will be putting it to good use very shortly when we tear the engine down for a scheduled refresh.

Spokane Nitro Event
YLR headed East of the mountains to Spokane, WA last weekend to attend the big Nitro Finals at Spokane County Raceway. The crowds were huge and the track put on a great event Friday & Saturday. We had some silly self induced gremlins but still managed to click off a good qualifying run. In eliminations a self induced problem reared it's ugly head and we were out unfortunately. Great weather, fans, & track support made it a memorable trip.

This is one of the biggest events of the year for us at Mission Raceway Park. As you can see, we were the event poster cover car this year. We qualified number 7 out of 15 cars but suffered some gremlins during the weekend that we chased. Our weekend ended after the first round of eliminations when Yvonne had a rare redlight foul. It's the first one she has had in over 10 years. Great event worth attending and had a big fireworks show.

We had a great time at DoorWarz in Mission, BC this past weekend. Although we struggled with an ignition problem, our team dug deep & with the help of other resources located & resolved the issues. We then ran a career best MPH at 6.11 234 MPH qualifying #6 out of 18 cars. A first round victory put us in a good position to move forward in eliminations but unfortunately a broken valve sidelined us. Armed with some good data, we look forward to our next outing. See some great photos on our FaceBook page & we'll see you soon.
Thanks to Paul Grant for the nice night shot!

Exciting 2016 Debut!
Well, our 2016 debut turned out a little dull AND exciting! First round of qualifying started out with a giant fireball. Luckily there was no fire damage & after taking the engine apart, we found a nitrous nozzle from inside the intake manifold had fallen into #4 cylinder & hung the valve open. It hardly left a mark, so will go back together. Got lucky this time!

First 2016 Testing
We are extremely excited to begin the 2016 season this weekend at Pacific Raceways for the first WCSA race. Over the winter we've added a new M&M Transmission T400 & lockup converter which should provide us with significant lower ET and higher speeds. Come on out & say hello.

SCSN 10 Results
The Street Car Super Natiionals in Las Vegas turned out to be another great event. We qualified well and set new personal bests again. Our qualifying pass was 6.06 sec @ 229 MPH. An electrical gremlin put us out of the race early unfortunately but looking forward to a great 2016.

Back At The Track!
It's been 11 long months since we have been racing but made our debut May 8-9 at Pacific Raceways. It was a lot of chassis adjustments & getting everything dialed in with short passes. The results were very satisfying with career best short time number 3 out of 4 hits. Best was a .978 60' & a 2.66 330' times which are very respectable. Heading to Mission Raceway May 22-23 for more testing.

Good News - Bad News
The good news is we were on our fastest lap ever, the bad news is the engine expired in a very bad way! It was our first full lap on the engine which makes it even worse. The engine was crated up and shipped to be repaired so we are out of commission for a few weeks, We look forward to getting back out as soon as we can again.

Big Red Gets Refreshed
It's been a painfully long winter engine refresh but we installed the engine back in the car today. We have made quite a few updates to the drivetrain over the winter so are expecting very good results this season. After buttoning a few loose ends up, we will be out racing within the next couple of weeks. Next race at Pacifici Raceways on June 20-21.

YLR is Pinewood Derby Guest
Yvonne Lucas Racing Special Guest at Boy Scout Pinewood Derby
Boy Scout Troop #767 held their annual Pinewood Derby in Maple Valley, WA on April 22nd. A fun night was had by all as these young Scouts raced their pinewood derby cars in fierce and spirited competition!
“It was an honor for me to be asked to participate in this event and spend some time talking with the boys about the sport of drag racing” reported Lucas. “We discussed many of the safety items involved in racing including my fire suit, Hans device and helmet.”
A long history of involvement in the Scouting program, Yvonne’s father showed by example what an outstanding influence the program is in a young boy’s life. “Having watched my dad work many years with the Scouts, it was a great opportunity for me to add to that legacy in my own community. Like any racer, I love to talk about our great sport and help to educate the public on what we do.”
The Boy Scouts of America dates back to the early 1900’s and continues to provide outdoor skills training, leadership training and respect for our nation’s flag. Ages 7 - 10 compete at the Derby. Lucas continues, “The Derby teaches young people about competition and good sportsmanship. The boys receive a pinewood car kit and work with a parent on building, carving and painting their car. They also learn about aerodynamics and weight distribution. The track is set up to give each car an electronic elapsed time as well. It’s a great opportunity to learn the basics of our sport.”
Yvonne Lucas Racing would like to thank Troop #767 and all the volunteers for this opportunity!

Happy New Year!
Hello Race Fans...
We had a great time in Las Vegas at SCSN IX. We went all the way to the quarterfinals and ended our season on a fantastic note! We put together a video of our runs in Vegas that are posted on under the Video page of this website.
Thursday, January 02, 2014
Our season continues to be challenging but we are steadily making progress with our chassis setup. We are excited that our engine is making so much power and we are anxiously looking forward to harnessing that power! Depending on the weather we should have one more test session before the end of September before making our trip to SCSN in Las Vegas Nov 14-17. This year SCSN will feature a NHRA legal ProMod class and we are excited to be a part of that as a sponsor and participant!
A special thanks to all the fans who attended our last race in Mission, BC including the Hartman family. It was great to see you and it's fans like these who make racing so fun.

Boise Nightfire Nationals Recap
We really enjoyed seeing the racers and fans in Boise, Idaho over the weekend. We did not accomplish what we had hoped for and did not qualify after being bit by some gremlins. Although it was a tough weekend for us, we want to thank West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association and Firebird Raceway for putting on a fantastic event! We look forward to next years race. We will be racing at Mission Raceway Aug 23-24.

YLR Tough Road at DoorWarz
After major chassis updates including a new rear-end etc. YLR had high expectations for a great performance at the DoorWarz event at Mission, BC Canada. Test runs there yielded very good results bettering the previous best runs in the car. However our weekend ended abruptly when in Q2 qualifying, the transmission let go shearing a shaft in half. Unable to repair it at the track, we were done. The transmission will be repaired & we'll be back at the track, next event in Boise, ID at the Nightfire Nationals Aug 8-11.

Our new 846ci engine is now pretty much installed in the car. All the usual tweeks here and there have to be done along with modifying the headers to fit, etc. Hopefully the installation will be completed in the next 2-3 weeks so we can get out and do some preliminary testing. Stay tuned.

As we close out the 2012 racing season I'd like to once again thank the sponsors, racers & fans who supported us this year! Your continuing support of drag racing in the Northwest as well as the rest of the U.S. & Canada is awesome. It was a challenging season for us & we can attest to the fact that operating & maintaining a race car are two very difficult but worthwhile adventures. We thank the companies in the ever changing atuomotive industry that continues to strive for excellence in the products they produce. We thank the racing clugbs & organizations who work so hard to bring the action to the fans. We also thank the track owners & personnel whose dilligent efforts continue to provide a safe environment for racers. A final thank you to my crew & family for their hard work & support.
See you at the track in 2013!

Bad Dog Shootout #2
Bad Dog Shootout #2 was held at Mission Raceway, Mission, BC. We qualified #4 in ProStreet however in the first round we ran up against Jay Syvertsen who unfortunately ran a personal best of 6.07 245 mph against us. Other than that, we had a great weekend of racing.

Canadian National Open Results
The Canadian National Open at Mission, BC was a "good news, bad news" weekend. Good news is the chassis is fixed & working great...our 60' times are sub-1 second, but we have an electrical gremlin raging havoc on our ignition. We made it to the semi-finals but weren't able to make a full pass. It will be fixed for the next race.
Monday, July 30, 2012
It's a good news, bad news scenario...the weather, facility, & people were great...our performance not so good. After a couple of test hits, a crack was discovered in the 4-link suspension that couldn't be fixed at the track so we had to withdraw from the event. We are getting the car fixed this week and will be back out for the next race July 6-7.

Headed to Boise, ID
We are headed to boise, Idaho this weekend for their famous Fox Hunt event. I have never raced at Boise and am excited to see this facility. Wednesday, June 20, 2012
Great progress was made in the last week at YLR in getting the car ready to hit the track soon. Final assembly, check out, and chassis setup will be completed over the next week. We're getting excited to get back out again.
Sunday, May 20, 2012
Many changes over the winter for YLR. The engine refresh & water injection installation are about complete. Also new is a complete new electronics package, updated Rossler transmission, trying the new MT 14" racing slicks, and fresh paint to fix the wear & tear from racing.
Friday, May 04, 2012
First and foremost I would like to thank Mike Lucas and Mike Stevenson for a great 2011 season! These guys worked very hard and we again reached goals during our year that we look forward to improving on! I’d also like to thank all of the photographers and media personnel who use their talents to document our sport and efforts in such an outstanding way! Paul Grant, Dean Murdoch, Dyan Lover, Steven Bunker, Roger Richards just to name a few! The webmasters of the racing sites that spend so much personal time getting race results out to the fans also deserve a big thank you!
Work has already begun on the racecar in anticipation for 2012. We look to improve our numbers again along with the help of so many talented professionals in the auto part business. The technology that is becoming available coupled with hundreds of hours of research, development and testing is what is making racing what it has become today. The future looks very bright for the Yvonne Lucas Racing and we say thank you to the fans for all your support this year! Have a Happy Holiday season with your families and friends.

Bad Dog Shootout Mission BC Results
At the Bad Dog Shootout race #2 in Mission, BC we ran a great 6.36 in the heat qualifying on Saturday. On the final qualifying pass at 9 pm, we had our fastest 1/8th mile time at 4.09 seconds 179 MPH! Unfortunately dew had set in on the far end of the track and the car got loose forcing an early shutoff. We felt really good about the incrementals on that pass. The track conditions on Sunday were hot and the air was humid. Too hot for setting any records and we narrowly missed going to the finals after aborting our semi-final pass after the car made a hard move at 900ft. We lost in the semis but again, feel really good about the progress we've made and look forward to racing in Spokane Sept 9-10.

NHRA Canadian National Open Runner-Up!
After three dismal outings and zero testing opportunities due to unseasonably rainy weather in the Northwest the sun finally came out for Yvonne Lucas who snagged the #2 qualifying position at the Canadian National Open July 23 -24th at beautiful Mission Raceways in Mission, BC. Capitalizing on their solid performance this weekend the Lucas Team made it all the way to the final round of Pro Street at the 2nd event for the Canadian Pro Street Association.
“We made 6 full passes this weekend and set 3 personal best in ET’s and MPH’s!” said Yvonne. “Running back to back 6.36, 6.37 and 6.35 was awesome for our team!”
Yvonne’s 6.35 at 222mph marks a career best and set the CPSA record for a nitrous car. With NHRA track personnel in the house the track prep was excellent as Mission hosted their biggest event of the year. “The chance for a Wally in Pro Street is a rare opportunity and after qualifying we felt we had a great chance to go all the way.” After a great reaction time and another solid run in the heat with track temps at 134 degrees, Lucas was edged out at the stripe by Joe Delehay’s blown Camaro at 6.09.
“We wanted the Wally but what was more important to us was the car’s incredible performance all weekend. Our team came away with great data and renewed confidence in the changes we made over last winter. I did my job on the starting line and didn’t see Joe until 1000ft. I was a bit out-gunned so I was trying to make him work for it!” laughed Yvonne.
The Lucas Team would like to thank Pro Torque, Speedwire, Mission Raceways, the Canadian Pro Street Association and crew members Mike Lucas and Mike Stevenson.

IHRA Rocky Mountain Nationals
This years race turned out to be one of the most frustrating weekends we can remember. The weather Friday was clear and sunny with beautiful conditions for racing until 30 minutes before we were supposed to go to the lanes. The rains came and cancelled the remainder of the evening, so we lost two qualifying hits. Saturday was mostly cloudy with some breezes. Our first hit resulted in tire shake, the next hit the engine wouldn't start and we later found the distributor had come loose so it was cross firing between cylinders, and the third hit, the engine wasn't warm enough so it coughed & died when Yvonne was trying to get it up on the converter. That brought and end to our weekend except for being relegated to being spectators. It was very disappointing to say the least but all is fixed and we are anxious to get back out to the track again soon.

Woodburn OR WCPMA Race
We attended the first 2011 West Coast ProMod Association's race in Woodburn, OR this past weekend. It's a great all concrete track and nice facility. Track conditions were tricky for everyone most of the weekend but a good time was had by all and there was a variety of fast cars to put on a great show for the fans. We quaified for the 8 car field however went out first round with wheelspin at the launch. We did get a lot of good data so will put it to good use for the upcoming race in Edmonton, AB Canada

Rain, Rain, Rain
Unfortunately not much to report other than the car is ready to race once the weather decides to cooperate. The first two races of the season have been rained out. We got two burnouts in but that's it as far as running the car. We are trying to get a testing day in this week, before our next race in Woodburn, OR on June 11-12. We expect to see some performance increases with some changes made to the car over the winter.

Heads Back From Fulton
CFE cylinder heads are back from Gene Fulton with a full refresh. Gene guarantees these will make more power, so we are excited to get the engine back together.
Wednesday, March 30, 2011
Winter months are when we do our car "refresh". The car basically comes apart and everything checked over. Parts are replaced as needed such as pistons, piston rings, bearings, valve job, etc. This year we are updating our fire system, and changing to carbon fiber rear brakes. We are also working on finalizing our 2011 racing schedule.
Thursday, January 20, 2011
We are now launching our new website. This area is for the Blog updates that we will be doing all season to keep everyone updated on what's going on with our racing program. Please send your comments.
